Communicate
We humans all try to communicate in order to express our ideas and our emotions, to transmit a message or to enter into a relationship of some kind with others. We use language, art or music to communicate with those close to us or to influence public opinion through mass media or advertising. At our best, we foster dialogue and cross-cultural exchange, thus preventing the Earth from becoming another Tower of Babel, but at our worst, we use propagate hate through propaganda and intimidation, which humiliates and silences. Effective communication requires a good command of the language and writing system. However, what happens if someone has a disability or literacy or numeracy problems that limit access to information? Aside from raising awareness, education and social policies, could technology foster better communication?
